Shopping & Services
Shopping in West Yellowstone is a whole new experience to most. Toss away power shopping and move into the relaxed, enjoyment mode! Casually stroll down West Yellowstone’s main streets and you will find an assortment of stores, restaurants, bakeries, art galleries, and specialty shops. Pause on a bench and do some people watching while indulging in a sweet treat or hot drink.
West Yellowstone’s appeal to adventure seekers dates back to the days when the first Yellowstone tourists arrived on trains into the Union Pacific Depot station. Some businesses are still right here, as happy to see visitors as they were a century ago, like Eagle’s Store. (Come by and help them celebrate their 100th Birthday in June 2008.)
In other businesses, the names might have changed but one thing remains constant -- the old-fashioned friendliness and courtesy that you’ll find throughout West Yellowstone. Whether it is honest advice about fishing, suggestions for a day trip, or opinions on the best area trails, you’ll find the locals always have something to share.
Don’t miss:
• An old-fashioned soda counter where you can still get a hand-scooped
ice cream cone.
• Custom-designed jewelry created by a local silversmith.
• Specialty “Made in Montana” products and Indian
handicrafts.
• Yellowstone memorabilia, authentic western wear, and antiques.
• One-hour photo and transfer of digital photos to CD.
• A wildlife Christmas ornament, homemade fudge and taffy, or
a fresh-baked treat.
• Watch craftsmen tie flies at the best fly-fishing stores and
outfitters in Montana. Hang around the counter for tips on the hottest
spots and flies!
• Rent a bike, cross country ski’s, or snowshoes.
• An espresso or hot chocolate to warm you up on a chilly night.
• Prints and paintings from local artists.
• A selection of coffee’s roasted right here in West Yellowstone.
• And, everyone’s favorite souvenirs…Yellowstone t-shirts
and Montana huckleberry candy!
Don’t forget to pick up your Painted Buffalo “Treasure Trail Map.” Follow the trail of the painted buffalo located around businesses and attractions. Answer the questions and redeem your quiz for merchant rewards.
In West Yellowstone, there’s always a little something for everyone!
