Earthquake Lake Hosts Weekend Programs

West Yellowstone, MT – The Earthquake Lake Visitor Center will be hosting multiple guided hikes over the coming weekends on Saturday, July 25 and August 1.  Join interpretive specialists for fun family friendly outings.  The Earthquake Lake Visitor Center provides interpretive services to more than 50,000 people annually.  The natural attractions and easily-seen effects of the strongest earthquake in the Rocky Mountains has made the area one of outstanding scenic and geologic interest.  Hikes include:

Bozeman, MT – With hot and dry conditions predicted to continue into the Fourth of July weekend, the Custer Gallatin National Forest is urging recreationists to use caution recreating on National Forest System (NFS) lands.  On the Custer Gallatin National Forest, along with all National Forest System lands, the possession or discharge of fireworks is prohibited.  While enjoying your National Forests this upcoming holiday weekend, visitors should keep in mind that one spark can ignite a wildfire.

Memorial Weekend – Roads, Trail Conditions Opening Up

Be Bear Aware - Food Storage Orders In Effect Across Custer Gallatin National Forest

Bozeman, MT– Five of the seven districts, including Bozeman, Hebgen, Gardiner, Yellowstone and Beartooth, on the Custer Gallatin National Forest start their Food Storage Orders, in effect March 1 – December 1, annually.  Food Storage Orders are in effect to reduce adverse human-wildlife interactions including bear and other wildlife species.  In the fall, 2014 the Food Storage order was updated to allow for the Interagency Grizzly Bear Committee (IGBC) approved containers and electric fencing. html>
