Join this casual evening of fun on the West side of the historical Union Pacific Dining Lodge. Bring your chairs or blankets, food, friends, and goodwill. Montana Shakespeare in the Parks brings professional productions at no cost to the public to communities throughout Montana, northern wyoming and eastern Idaho. The curtain goes up for this year's free performance of "All's Well That Ends Well" at 6:00 pm. Tonight's performance is being sponsored by the West Yellowstone Foundation (contributions are always welcome). We hope to see you there!

August 3-10, 2008: 3rd Annual Smoking Waters Mountain Man Rendezvous

Living History and Trader’s Row are the core of this opportunity to experience the West and its people. Demonstrations of carding and spinning wool, making butter and leather working; Seminars on Native American Culture and the Fur Trade Era; Entertainment and Competitions such as Cowboy Poetry, Storytelling, Black Powder Shoot, Knife and Tomahawk Throws are all part of the ten day mix. November 25-29, 2008: The Yellowstone Ski Festival

This is a must for every cross-country skier! West Yellowstone literally comes alive in lycra in November. Hundreds of Nordic ski enthusiasts from all over the world, novice to expert, gather to learn more about the sport, practice techniques and see new equipment. Early snows, superb grooming, racing opportunities and the Nordic Skiing Exposition make this an especially inviting time. On-snow clinics take place between November 24-28. January 2009: Harriman State Park of Idaho - Free Ski Day

Have you always wanted to try nordic skiing or want to take your family but can't afford to? Want to learn how to build a survival snow cave? Idaho Falls Nordic Ski Patrol will be at the park offering lessons to those that want to learn the basics to Nordic skiing. A guided ski tour will be offered at 10:00 am that will take you up the River Trail to the Historic Ranch. The Historic Jones House will be open to go inside and warm up, and hot drinks will be available there.

March 7, 2009: Yellowstone Rendezvous Marathon Ski Race

Held on the first Saturday in March on the world-class Rendezvous Ski Trails, this event draws hundreds of cross-country skiers.  With the blast of a black powder canon, racers sprint out to compete in a variety of age classes and distances in both classic and freestyle of 5 to 50K lengths. With grooming provided by Yellowstone Track Systems, this is arguably the best track to be found all year.  The camaraderie and festive atmosphere have kept this an annual event, now in its 29th year.

Yellowstone's west entrance will reopen to vehicle travel April 17, 2009, when regular vehicle travel begins from the West Entrance.

March 20 - 22, 2009: World Snowmobile EXPO 2009

A terrific end and beginning for snowmobilers!  The World Snowmobile Expo culminates a year of Sno-Cross racing for many Rocky Mountain competitors with four days of racing thrills.  Then, snowmobile manufacturers and after-market companies strut their 2010 stuff at the exposition hall.  Nighttime activities include a “Funny-Money” Casino night and plenty of laughs.  Plan now to attend!

March 21 & 22, 2009: Equinox Ski Challenge

The Equinox Ski Challenge is a 24 Hour nordic ski race. There will be 6, 12, and 24 hour divisions open to both relay teams and solo entrants. This event will raise funds for the West Yellowstone Ski Education Foundation and Mania Youth Programs. Those bringing food donations for the West Yellowstone Food Bank will be entered in a special raffle as well.

April 1 - 16, 2009 - Yellowwstone Cycle Days!!

Ride in Yellowstone for free and before the Park is open to public automobiles or buses. It's a perfect way to spend a day. From West Yellowstone you can ride to Madison Junction and then to the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone or Mammoth Hot Springs (the road between Madison and Old Faithful remains closed to all until later in April) . Feet and Roller blades are welcome, too.

Each year our community honors those who have served our country in the armed services. Those who have bought peace through sacrifice. “In Flanders fields the poppies grow, betwixt the crosses, row on row…” We remember. The service is held at the Fir Ridge Cemetery, 9 miles north of West Yellowstone on US 191.

June 2009: Janet Clarkson Memorial Triathlon

Janet Clarkson was an avid participant in many racing events. Janet passed away at age 37 from Ewing's Sarcoma, a bone cancer. This annual event in honor of Janet, and for the benefit of the West Yellowstone School's Scholarship Fund and the American Cancer Society, is held in and around Janet's summer-time home, the Madison Arm Resort on Hebgen Lake. Considered a mini-triathlon, there is a 1000 meter swim, followed by a 13.3 mile bicycle ride and concludes with 5.7 mile run. An awards ceremony immediately follows the competition.

Our Fourth of July celebration this year carries the theme: Centennial Celebration! It includes some "down home" fun--outdoor barbeque benefit for the fire department, parade, music and fireworks (conditions permitting). July 4, 2009: Outdoor BBQ Benefit for the Fire Department

Enjoy an outdoor BBQ of hamburgers, hotdogs, chili, chips for $5 per plate with the West Yellowstone Fire Department in the Chamber of Commerce Parking lot from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm. Proceeds raised will support the Volunteer Fire Department for equipment and training. They will also be hosting a motorcycle ride and selling raffle tickets for a winter package.

July 4, 2009: Music in the Park
